Melissa Barnickel is a CPA, (Certified Public Accountant), a CLTC, (Certified in Long Term Care), a CSA, (Certified Senior Advisor), and a licensed insurance agent specializing in long term care insurance. Over the past 19 years she has been a Controller, Vice President of Finance and Leader of LTC Sales for two different insurance brokerages, one of which specialized in long term care insurance. As a local operations executive for a national brokerage, she provided product assistance to agents and coordinated relations with insurance carriers. Melissa is Chair of the Financial Planning Committee for MD Association of CPAs; a Commissioner for Harford County Commission for Women, and a member of Chesapeake Professional Women’s Network.
Edward S. Hutman, CLTC, Long Term Care Insurance Specialist
Edward Hutman is a CLTC, (Certified in Long Term Care), and has been a licensed insurance agent specializing in long term care insurance since 1990. He has actively encouraged education within the industry. He was Program Chair in 2000 and 2001 for the Long Term Care Insurance Program-Maryland Association of Health Underwriters Long Term Care Conference. He was the Long Term Care Insurance Chair for the 2005 Maryland State Insurance Expo. He has been active in both group and individual long term care insurance. Ed was on the review committee for the America's Health Insurance Plans training course on long term care. He is part of the Long Term Care Insurance Advisory Group to the Maryland Insurance Commissioner.
Edward Kafes, RHU, CSA, LTCP
President, Interstate Health Underwriters, Inc. Ed Kafes brings extensive health and LTC experience to Group LTC Services, LLC., having been active in the industry for over 40 years. He was one of the early marketers and educators in long term care insurance. He has advocated for health consumers over the many years that he has served clients, acting as an advisor to the complaint department of the Maryland Insurance Administration and conducting numerous consumer and industry seminars regarding various long term care insurance issues. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Baltimore Association of Health Underwriters.
Jeffrey V. Merwin, CLU, CSA, RHU, Long Term Care Insurance Specialist
Jeff Merwin began his insurance career in 1987, focusing on the group employee benefit marketplace. The past 7 years he has concentrated on long term care planning as he sees the need to ensure that all families protect their retirement savings and independence for the future. He has been a featured speaker at chapter meetings of the Health Underwriters, NAIFA, Financial Planning Association of Maryland, Maryland Association of CPAs and the Maryland state life and health forums. He has provided training and consultation to over a thousand agents and advisors and is a state certified instructor in eight states. In addition to assisting individuals, he designs executive and employee long-term care plans for both small and large businesses. |
